    The spring season is upon us and themes of regeneration and restoring the Earth are fresh in our minds. What better time to celebrate the winners of Interfaith Power & Light’s (IPL) Cool Congregations Challenge? Earlier this year, USGBC’s partner organization invited people of faith across the country to share what they’re doing in response to climate change by entering the Cool Congregations Challenge. There were so many great entries that the decision was tough!

  • Earth Day 2014

    I admit to having mixed feelings about Earth Day for the obvious reason that “saving the planet” is a 365-day, 24/7 job. But if we can get people to focus on the central idea it represents even for a few minutes, it’s worth it, right?

    But what’s begun to bother me big time is that we still frame this idea as if it’s humans vs. the planet, rather than focusing on the intricate interdependencies between humans and the Earth.

    Turning 21 years old marks an important right of passage, at least here in the U.S. You’re now officially old enough to do a few things you were probably already doing anyway. Hopefully, now that you can do them legally, you’ve also figured out how to do them more responsibly. That’s the idea, anyway.
