Washington, D.C. — (Dec. 20, 2013) — The movement for healthier, high-performing buildings has reached a new milestone, as the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) issued the 20,000th LEED certification for a commercial project.
I experienced my first Greenbuild this year and had no idea what to expect. As the manager of our international marketing and communication efforts, I found it to be an exhilarating experience. A whirlwind of passion, activity and commitment.
At USGBC we often speak about how LEED is global language. A language that allows us to distribute intelligence throughout the world. A language that allows us to compare how a LEED-certified building in Beijing is performing with one in Dubai, or Chicago.
The thing about Washington, D.C. is that it’s filled with historically significant buildings. From the Washington Monument to the Lincoln Memorial, from the Old Stone House to the Willard Hotel, it seems every building inside the District has stature, either because of its age, its design, or because history was actually made there.

Ohio LEED schools save energy, money and resources and are healthier for students and faculty
Washington, D.C. — (Dec. 11, 2013)— Today, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) recognizes the state of Ohio and the Ohio School Facilities Commission (OSFC) on the LEED® certification of the 100th public school building in the state. Ohio leads the country with more LEED-certified public schools than any other state, with hundreds more in the LEED pipeline.

Every year since 2001 I have attended Greenbuild as part of Malcolm Lewis’s team from CTG. Malcolm was an innovator, instigator, guru and wise man of the green building movement.
