For all of their boldface text and colorful highlighting, the study materials that the USGBC recommends to those preparing for its Green Associate exam don’t hesitate to plunge into the nitty-gritty of LEED and the USGBC. So far, that level of detail is proving to be both cumbersome and reassuring.

In part, the environmental movement grew out of the great ideas of naturalists who were committed to the goals of nature conservation and habitat protection. Team Austria’s home ready to compete in the 2013 Solar Decathlon
As you stroll through the verdant green foothills of the Austrian Alps, you’ll be inspired by not only the quaint farm houses and pastures, but also number of solar panels on the south facing barn roofs. Austria has a long tradition of sustainability and is well known in Europe as a dynamic leader in renewable energy and sustainability. It’s therefore no surprise that we jumped at the chance to enter the 2013 Solar Decathlon in California!
Thanks in part to its dedicated volunteers who contributed 500,000 hours to the green building movement in 2012 alone, the USGBC community continues to advance a healthier, more sustainable and prosperous built environment in communities across the globe. The Malcolm Lewis IMPACT! Award, a prestigious annual award, recognizes a high-impact, volunteer driven project or initiative that supports USGBC’s mission. 2013 nominations are open through Oct.
