In this second installment of the Green Apple Day of Service Spotlight, members of the Center for Green Schools at USGBC team took some time out of their busy schedules to tell me a bit about the different projects they have teamed up to coordinate.
With the second annual Green Apple Day of Service fast approaching, it’s a great time to find out what kinds of projects volunteers are undertaking as part of the global effort to make all schools a healthy, sustainable, and a comfortable environment for the students and staff that walk through school doors on a daily basis.

Communities large and small rely on water sources. Development has been historically concentrated near water bodies to take advantage of this vital resource, yet constant use has led to deterioration of these fragile ecosystems. Wetlands, rivers, lakes, and streams are important to human health, but also act as health indicators of surrounding ecosystems.

September 18 is Fanimation’s first annual National Ceiling Fan Day!
As a society, we’ve grown reliant on air conditioners. That’s not to say air conditioners should never be used. But it’s important to be educated on the energy and cost saving benefits of using fans in conjunction with central air.
