On June 19, the Center for Green Schools at the U.S. Green Building Council gathered leaders, stakeholders and advocates from 30 education-related organizations to envision a future in which students, educators and everyone who supports them are prepared for their role as global citizens. With generous support from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, attendees worked for seven straight hours to craft a shared vision for what success around sustainability education in the U.S.

USGBC to Offer Free Certification for First Platinum Projects to Use Next Generation of LEED

Washington, D.C. — (June 28, 2013) — In an effort to accelerate sustainable development around the world, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), creators of the LEED® green building rating system, is adding a new layer to its LEED Earth campaign to offer free LEED certification to the first Platinum projects that certify using the new version of LEED. This new component will encourage and reward optimum, cutting-edge green building practices globally.

Over the years I’ve been fortunate to attend every Greenbuild. Since the first Greenbuild in 2002 in Austin, including as an exhibitor since 2004, I have been amazed by the quality of this event. Each year, I attend over 20 conferences and tradeshows that are related to sustainability or green building. And in my opinion, Greenbuild is consistently the best overall conference.
