LEED in Motion: Sweden Notes Country is Likely to See a 33 Percent Increase in Certified Projects in 2014
Whether it’s single family or multifamily development, two floors or 18 floors – these are factors that come into play when choosing the right rating system for your residential project. But we’ve heard from many of you out in the real world that it’s been a tough call trying to choose the *right* rating system. So, let’s go over some details to help guide your understanding of the rating systems:
Recognize the factors at play.
As part of the LEED, Materials, and Health Initiative, USGBC is convening a series of events to drive the industry conversation towards more informed decisions impacting human and environmental health. The events, which include lunch lectures and more in-depth meetings and workshops, address critical issues such as ingredient transparency, materials selection and assessment, innovation, professional training, and materials data infrastructure.
In China, a country that defines global leadership, there is visible indication that we have stressed Mother Nature far beyond her limits. It is time to bring equilibrium to business and environment, to productivity and people, to leadership and legacy — the principles that influenced the creation of LEED.
With the launch of LEED v4, you may have noticed that we changed how we talk about the rating systems. While it can seem a little confusing, we’re here to help. Let’s take a look at the 2009 rating systems on the left and then filter them through our special v4 lens. Here’s what we get:

What a difference leadership makes. Today, President Obama has taken significant action once again to maximize the environmental and economic benefits of better buildings. If there’s one sector where it makes sense to do more and do it faster, it’s in our buildings, and I applaud the President for seeing the same opportunity in buildings that we see.
USGBC has released a new pathway in LEED by recognizing ISO 50001: 2011- Energy Management Systems in USGBC’s LEED rating system for existing buildings.
