    The newest version of the LEED green building rating system closes ballot and moves toward an official market launch at Greenbuild.

    I am pleased to announce that the final results of the LEED v4 ballot are in. To pass, the rating systems needed 66.7% of the vote to be in favor of the new system. With a final tally of 86%, we met our goal and more! This includes:

  • USGBC to Offer Free Certification for First Platinum Projects to Use Next Generation of LEED

    Washington, D.C. — (June 28, 2013) — In an effort to accelerate sustainable development around the world, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), creators of the LEED® green building rating system, is adding a new layer to its LEED Earth campaign to offer free LEED certification to the first Platinum projects that certify using the new version of LEED.     Earning LEED certification is a major achievement. Earning LEED certification for a Venetian Gothic palazzo built in 1453 and overlooking the Grand Canal is… wow.

    Cities like Venice are a window to the past. You know this if you’ve ever cracked a history textbook or travel guide, caught Rick Steves or Anthony Bourdain gallivanting the canals on cable, or been lucky enough to visit and see its magnificence for yourself.
